For over 25 years, the Isabel Foundation has made grants to nonprofit organizations related to the faith of Christian Science, including camps, churches, schools, Christian Science nursing facilities, collaboratives, the Christian Science Monitor, and other initiatives with shared Christian Science values.

Adventure Unlimited has two distinct core programs: the A/U Ranches and DiscoveryBound. The Albert Baker Fund

In 1964, The Albert Baker Fund (ABF) was launched as a revolving loan fund to help young Christian Scientists finish college in four years. Since then, ABF has steadily expanded the scope of its service to the Christian Science community. Arden Wood, Inc.

Since opening in 1930, Arden Wood has provided a haven for spiritual healing and remains true to its mission through our core services: Christian Science nursing care, Sheltered Care (since 2009) serving Christian Scientists in need of light assistance, a visiting Christian Science nursing service that serves the greater Bay area, training in the Christian Science Nursing Arts, and Rest and Study offering a respite for quiet study and reflection, often while attending one’s Christian Science Association.

The overarching goals of Arden Wood are to remain a steady beacon of light, a haven for healing and ageless living for Christian Scientists, a place where Christian Science nurses can grow their ministry through training, being mentored, and practical application, and a support to other Christian Science facilities and to the Field in general.

Association of Organizations for Christian Science Nursing

Beacon Haven (formerly Clifton House)

Beacon Haven offers a wide variety of skilled Christian Science nursing services to actively support healing through Christian Science. These services include both facility-based and visiting Christian Science nursing care, as well as free phone consultation. Beacon Haven Christian Science nurses are available 24-hours per day, 7-days per week. In addition, we are a center for Christian Science activity in the area, awakening people to care for themselves and each other.

Berkeley Hall School

Berkeley Hall is the oldest coed independent elementary school in Los Angeles. It was founded in 1911 by two sisters who were Christian Scientists. One taught at Westlake School for Girls and some of her parents encouraged her to start a new school in a different area of Los Angeles. For 5 or 6 years, it was open to children of all faiths. After that, it became a school for children who attended Christian Science Sunday School. In the early 1990’s, Berkeley Hall once again opened its doors to students of all faiths, but still maintains the initial charter of all faculty, administrators, and Board members being “in harmony with the teachings of Christian Science.”

The Branch School

The Branch School works to provide a stimulating, challenging, and wholesome environment where every child can fulfill their whole God-given potential. They strive to be led by God, Divine Principle, in our daily lives, working to see this demonstrated in every classroom. The school opened in 1977 to provide an excellent educational environment for Christian Science children in the Houston area, later expanding to serve students regardless of religious affiliation. They use a project-based learning model, with an emphasis on a STEAM curriculum, which inspires deeper thinking and study.

Broadview, Inc.

Broadview is devoted to Christian Science healing and committed to helping everyone who wants Christian Science nursing care. It is one of the most active Christian Science nursing facilities in the world. Their mission is to support healing through our Christian Science nursing ministry, help train the next generation of Journal-Listed Christian Science nurses, to be a resource for continuing education of existing Christian Science nurses, and to respond positively and promptly to calls for care from our community either at our facility or in the field through our Visiting Christian Science Nurse service.

The Campership Fund

The Campership Fund for Christian Scientists (TCF) is a tax-exempt private foundation formed in 1991 to help families in Georgia send their children to any of the six camps for Christian Scientists. They have grown, with the help of generous foundations like Isabel Foundation, to help those throughout the U.S. and Canada. Since TCF is at the national level and recognized as camp-neutral, it has become the main source for campership funding. TCF offers an applicant up to 75% of the tuition based on need and other considerations, and then the camp looks at the same application to see if more funding is needed from their own campership funds. Campership funding is now available for both children and adults; and is offered for all programs – summer camp, family camp, and off-season programs.

Camps Leelanau & Kohahna Foundation, Inc.

Camp Leelanau for Boys and Camp Kohahna for Girls offer comprehensive summer camping programs for young people enrolled in the Sunday Schools of Christian Science branch churches. Programs are designed to cultivate individual character through participation in a wide variety of activities.

Camps Newfound/Owatonna Corporation

Camps Newfound and Owatonna opened as private camps for children from Christian Science homes in the early 1900s. Camp Newfound began in 1914 and celebrated its 100th summer in 2013. Camp Owatonna began in 1922 as Ropioa (which stands for “Reflection of Perfection is Our Aim”), and ran until 1942 when it was sold and run as a non-denominational camp until the mid-1950s when a group of Ropioa alums came together and re-opened it in 1956 as Owatonna. We will celebrate Owatonna/Ropioa’s 100th anniversary in the fall of 2021. Children and young adults spend three, four, or seven weeks at Camp – learning, loving, and leading – and then go on to share their love with the world.

Canterbury Crest, Inc.

Canterbury Crest is a non-profit organization in Portland Oregon. It is dedicated to supporting Christian Science Nursing. A stipend is offered to Christian Science nurses while they work to establishing their private duty Christian Science nursing practice. We also offer workshops to CS nurses on improving their private duty practice as well as seminars to churches on Christian Science nursing.

The Cedars Camps

During the summer, we offer eight weeks of residential camping programs for youth enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School.  Programs for Christian Science Families and Adults are Memorial Weekend and a seven-day Family Camp at the end of the summer. They offer two-weeks of pre-camp training for our staff that includes certifications, professional development, and inspirational workshops and talks from Christian Science practitioners and Christian Science nurses. In the fall, we open our Bible Lands Park and facilities to groups of all denominations, including hosting an annual retreat for a regional Methodist Women’s group (at their request).

CherishAbility (formerly Rainbow Valley Resource Network)

CherishAbility is building a compassionate sense of community and support for Christian Scientists with developmental special needs and their families through financial assistance, informational and inspirational resources, and experiential enrichment activities.

  • Financial Assistance – subscriptions to the Christian Science (CS) periodicals, Christian Science practitioner bills, respite care, and enrichment activities.
  • Online Programs
    • Loved One Gatherings – monthly Zoom meetings that explore lessons from teachings of Christian Science; facilitate activities such as crafting, etc.; and encourage socializing and bonding with fellow Christian Scientists.
    • Parent Gatherings – monthly Zoom calls with parents and caregivers. Participants share inspiration, support, and practical insights.
    • Peer Connect – small-group gatherings for camaraderie and inspiration.
    • Christmas Gathering – a seasonal party with gifts, games, songs and fun.

    • Adaptive Family Camp – an inclusive camp experience designed around individuals with special needs

Chestnut Hill Benevolent Association

In 1916, the Christian Science Board of Directors announced the establishment of the Christian Science Benevolent Association. The BA opened its doors in 1919. The Benevolent Association was a department of The Mother Church until 1981 when the Christian Science Board of Directors transferred the ownership, operation, and financial responsibility of the BA to an independent trusteeship, with its new name “Chestnut Hill Benevolent Association.” In 1991, The Mother Church released responsibility for the oversight, curriculum, and funding of all Christian Science nurses training. This responsibility was transferred to the Field.

Christian Science Provider Network

The Network was created by The Mother Church (TMC) in 2012 to address the dramatic decline of coverage of Christian Science services by health plans since the 1980’s when over 300 health plans covered and paid for Christian Science services. It is a 501(c)(3) and provides most of its services as a charity. The Network supports the work of the Committee on Publication office by correcting the imposition of inappropriately denied insurance claims. It obtains health plan contracts for its member facilities and empowers them to operate in the managed care business model by providing webinars, coaching, written protocols on best business practices, and appeals for patients or facilities.

Clairbourn School

Clairbourn School is currently celebrating its ninety-second year of operation since 1926. It began with the special vision of the Bourne family composed of prominent members living in San Marino, who also happened to be heirs to the Singer Sewing Machine fortune, to educate their children in an academically rigorous and well-rounded way. Although the school’s origin was religious and all the early students had a Christian Science background until 1968, the school today is open to students of all religious backgrounds and boasts an ethnically diverse Junior Pre-K through 8th grade student body. Moreover, it has evolved to become one of the finest independent schools serving the San Gabriel Valley. Our emphasis is on an excellent and well-rounded education with the development of intellectual habits and social skills necessary for success at any age.

Clearview Home Corporation

Clearview Home Corporation provides Christian Science nursing care and has done so for close to 70 years. It is geographically well-located, being about 30 miles from Milwaukee, 50 miles from Madison, and about 100 miles from Chicago, IL. It has the capacity for six patients and several guests, as well as providing rooms for temporary Christian Science nurses. Clearview Home offers inpatient, outpatient, and visiting CS nursing services.

Clearview Home serves the state of Wisconsin as well as surrounding states of Iowa, Indiana, Illinois and Michigan.

Crystal Lake Camps, Inc.

CLC was founded in 1949 by Charles and Katharine Alford as a summer camp for Christian Science youth. Through its 70+ years, CLC has proven countless times the utility and importance of a summer camp experience as a laboratory for young Christian Scientists. Today we are especially proud of our family-like atmosphere that encourages campers and staff to interact across age groups and cabins and builds a sense of family throughout the camp. We are also proud of our international camper outreach, which has been an important part of Crystal Lake’s program for many years.

Daystar is a religious, non-medical healthcare institution serving Christian Scientists. Daystar has 14 patient rooms and four residential suites. Daystar serves all of Florida, plus neighboring states and the islands. It is the only facility in Florida.

Though we are a grant-making organization, we partner closely with the schools we serve. We communicate frequently with school leaders, providing guidance and getting regular updates on school activities and infrastructure improvements. Because our Board members are experienced educators, we can help when specific issues arise or give a necessary push when improvements are called for. The organization knows and loves the people we work with and do whatever we can to help the children and the schools flourish.

We are a Christian Science nursing facility in Castro Valley CA, about 25 miles from San Francisco. We offer a full range of Christian Science nursing services and have a Christian Science nurse training program. We got our start in the 1950s, but were incorporated as a non-profit in 1972. At times our staff provides visiting Christian Science nursing and/or in-home care services. We have a complete and thorough Christian Science Nurses Training Program. Both the facility and the training program are fully accredited by The Commission. Training programs include classes and mentoring at the facility, on-line classes, seminars in other countries, and care workshops for branch churches.

The Mother Church was originally chartered in 1879. Its mission is to be a Church “designed to commemorate the word and works of our Master [Christ Jesus], which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing.” A five-member Board of Directors governs The Mother Church. About 2,000 locally self-governed branches exist worldwide. The Christian Science Publishing Society publishes weekly, monthly, and quarterly religious magazines in several languages, and publishes The Christian Science Monitor.

The Flint Institute of Arts

The Flint Institute of Arts is the second largest art museum in the State of Michigan and one of the largest museum art schools in the nation. Each year, more than 160,000 people visit the FIA’s galleries and participate in FIA programs and services. The world-renowned collection, which now exceeds 8,000 objects, is significant for its depth of important European and American paintings and sculptures, 15th century to the present, and its extensive holdings of decorative and applied arts including important ethnographic study collections dating back five millennia.

The FIA Art School runs at full capacity from 9 am to 9 pm with an annual enrollment of more than 1,700 students. The Art School remains dedicated to the educational enlightenment of the public through formal studio instruction in glassblowing, flameworking, drawing, painting, photography, mixed media, printmaking, ceramics, glass mosaic, fiber, metal, and sculpture. The school also provides summer camps for youth, free family activities, and a pre-college portfolio development program for gifted high school students.

Flint Cultural Center / Sloan Museum of Discovery

The Flint Cultural Center’s campus is a destination location in the City of Flint and a long-standing hub for people of all ages to experience 1) a variety of arts and cultural activities, 2) community engagement initiatives, and 3) educational classes and workshops featuring history, science, and technology.  In an effort to maintain and grow our status with this generation, and future generations, the FCC’s partnering organization, SloanLongway (Sloan Museum and Longway Planetarium), is currently in both the design and silent phases of a $24 million capital campaign to expand and renovate the existing Sloan Museum. The culmination of the project – the Sloan Museum of Discovery – is slated to open in early 2020. The Sloan Museum of Discovery will feature over 42,000 square footage of additional space in a completely renovated and expanded facility designed to offer a world class museum experience in Flint and Genesee County, MI.

Friends of Camp Bow-Isle, Inc.

A Christian Science summer camp in Canada dedicated to the moral and spiritual education of youth using outdoor activity, fun and games, challenge by choice, and team building. They are the only Christian Science Camp located in Canada. In addition to our summer youth and family camp sessions, we run adult programs for Christian Scientists in the Spring and Fall, as well as tailored programs for local school/leadership/youth groups.

Friends of GYA

Grenada YA has developed a strong focus on Learn-to-Swim programs as over 85% of Grenadians cannot swim. They run these programs six days a week and because of Isabel Foundation’s last grant, we have been able to offer two National Swim Weeks (when school is out) where students may take up to 5 lessons in a row during a one-week time period. In addition, they have started swim clubs in 10 schools.

Glenmont

Glenmont has been operating since 1931, making it the 3rd oldest continuously operating Christian Science Nursing Facility, and the only Christian Science Nursing Facility in Ohio. We are receiving patients from all around the country. Thus, the growing importance of maintaining and sustaining Glenmont is vital to our entire movement. We provide all levels of Christian Science Nursing Care, including Rest and Study. We always receive high marks from all inspections from the State as well as from the Commission.

High Ridge House, Inc.

High Ridge House (HRH) is a Christian Science Sanctuary for healing and renewal. They are certified by Medicare as a Religious Non-medical Healthcare Institution (RNHCI). Our Christian Science nurses offer loving practical care that supports radical reliance on God for healing. This care is much broader than merely meeting physical needs. Their dedicated Christian Science nurses, who have proven the truths of Christian Science in their own lives, act as Christly witnesses to a patient’s spiritual wholeness. In addition, we remind the entire HRH staff (CS and non-CS) that we are all here to witness God’s work and that in our own individual ways we are all CS nurses – nursing ourselves, our families, our co-workers, our churches, our communities and our world.

In addition, they offer 10 suites for progressive (assisted) residential living and 4 rooms dedicated for study, rest and renewal in a “Atmosphere of Divine Love” supporting spiritual healing.

The Link School

The Link School was established as an outreach to Christian Science teens who were disengaged and at risk. They live and love Christian Science and we seek to share this love with our students. Working with students who are struggling is at the core of their mission but enrollment also includes students who value our approach to education, to our community principles, and our small school approach, our community of care for- and service to- one another and the world.

Longyear Foundation

Longyear Museum was founded by noted philanthropist Mary Beecher Longyear who had been greatly benefitted by Christian Science and personally acquainted with Mary Baker Eddy. She founded the Longyear Museum to provide future generations with facts rather than myths about this religious leader. The Museum’s main exhibit, “Mary Baker Eddy: A Spiritual Journey,” traces the major events of Mrs. Eddy’s life, from her girlhood in rural New Hampshire to her founding of the Church of Christ, Scientist.

The Museum’s collection includes eight historic houses in which Mrs. Eddy lived, including her last home in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

Lynn House is a haven for those relying on God for healing – a place to pray and commune with God and to be cared for by Christian Science nurses. Located a few miles south of Washington, DC, Lynn House serves as a beacon of spiritual healing just outside our nation’s capital. Our services include Christian Science Nursing Care (inpatient and outpatient), Visiting Christian Science Nurse Service (for those who would like to receive care in their home), Rest & Study (for those who would like prayerful time for spiritual renewal), and a Residential Program (for those who would like to live in a spiritually supportive environment).

Noontide Visiting Christian Science Nurse Service of Michigan

They employ one full-time CS nurse and one person, who is currently not a CS nurse, but has taken our Noontide Christian Science Home Helper workshop, to answer the phone two days a week.  We have a Business Administrator who works on an hourly basis.

The Olive Glen Foundation, Inc.

Olive Glen offers a healing atmosphere for all those who want to practice Christian Science. Christian Science nurses offer support to residents in three areas – skilled Christian Science nursing, assisted living, and residential living on our property in California. Overlook House Incorporated (Upward Wing)

Overlook House has provided Christian Science nursing care in northern Ohio and surrounding areas as a non-profit for 71 years. In 2008, Overlook House ceased operating as a licensed in-patient Christian Science nursing facility.

In January 2011, Overlook House launched a subsidiary company, Upward Wing LLC, serving as a Visiting Christian Science Nursing (VCSN) service.

Peace Haven Association

Peace Haven is a Christian Science Nursing Facility, Visiting Christian Science Nurse Service and Christian Science Nursing Arts Training School. Peace Haven continues to explore ways to meet the needs of the eight states surrounding Missouri. Peace Haven is embracing the community and beyond, including regular church presentations, three inspirational talks per year, weekly Bible research insights based on citations from the Christian Science Bible Lesson (which reaches 500+ participants per week), monthly practitioner talks for residents and staff, and a “Community of Healers” group of residents that meet weekly to pray about world issues.

The Philanthropy Roundtable

The Philanthropy Roundtable began in the late 1970s under the auspices of the Institute for Educational Affairs as an informal network of grantmakers who aimed to promote greater respect for private, voluntary approaches to individual and community improvement.

The Roundtable’s top three impacts include: 1) Influencing philanthropic giving and supporting donors 2) Policy wins to protect philanthropic freedom nationwide 3) Serving as the only voice for center-right philanthropy and representing donors in conversations about philanthropic best practices and values.

The Principle Foundation is a 501c3 public charity serving the needs of Christian Scientists in the US. They accept requests for financial assistance in several program areas: a TPF fund for basic living necessities such as food, shelter, and transportation, a disaster relief fund for hurricanes, fires, and the pandemic expenses, an Embraced Full program for students of Christian Science who are incarcerated or newly released and the National Fund for Christian Science Nursing for patients who need financial assistance paying for Christian Science nursing care. New programs this year include an information center focused on helping senior Christian Scientists, an International Fund for Christian Science Nursing patients, and the Gratitude Fund for Christian Science nurses.

Sunrise Haven

Sunrise Haven is a modern eight-bed facility, near Seattle. Sunrise Haven is incorporated as a non-profit Christian Science nursing service and is licensed as a nursing home by Washington State. We have provided Christian Science nursing services to residents of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and Alaska for 81 years. The staff is committed to maintaining a deeply metaphysical culture, grounded in the expectation for quick and whole healing. We deliver 24/7 Christian Science nursing resources with prayer, wisdom, compassion, and skill. We provide nourishment ideas, mobility aids, cleansing and bandaging, and equipment rental. We are accredited and were the first and, to our knowledge, the only facility to provide introductory online courses, reaching international aspiring CS nurses, and others who desire to take these exploratory theoretical courses remotely. Our 16 Christian Science nursing employees collectively have over 200 years’ expertise in the ministry.

Sunrise of Africa School Charitable Foundation is a primary school founded on Christian Science principles and values. They have classes from kindergarten to grade 8. We are located 40km east of Nairobi, Kenya. As of the end of 2019 we had 387 pupils, all receiving an excellent education based on Christian values.

Primary goals include: academic excellence and character building. We offer quality education at low, affordable fees. We also give scholarships to needy children: i.e. destitute, refugee or internally displaced children. The teachers are employed for their excellent qualifications and sustained willingness and proof of study and practice of Christian Science.

Twelveacres, Inc.

Twelveacres is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing a healing home environment for adult Christian Scientists who are considered developmentally challenged, including ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents. The residents, together with their families and conservators, wish to rely on Christian Science for healing and daily living. Progress and healing are expected and achieved.

Currently, the three Twelveacres homes in the San Jose area include 15 Christian Science residents who no longer live with family members. Residents with similar abilities and social compatibility live together. There is also a home dedicated for staff housing.

Twelveacres provides 24/7 staff oversight of the residents and our services continue to include Christian Science nursing care, life-skills training, community activities, and Christian Science activities. We are a resource for phone consultation and caregiver respites to other Christian Science families with similar needs.

Wellsprings of Florida is essentially a benevolence organization which provides financial assistance in a way that allows as many Christian Scientists in Florida who may benefit from Christian Science nursing care a better chance of receiving that care. They are constantly reevaluating ways of leveraging the financial resources we have to better facilitate access to those in need of CS nursing care. From time to time, they take on special projects. Currently they have a travel grant program for Christian Science nurses, an on-call Christian Science nurse program, and a training/mentoring program for Christian Scientists in Florida who would like to become a Christian Science nurse but are not able to afford it or travel to a CS nursing facility to receive it.

As a non-profit 501(c)3 Christian Science nursing organization, Wide Horizon continues to be a beacon for Christian Science living for honest seekers of Truth. Located in the western Denver-metro area, since 1950 Wide Horizon primarily has served a vast multi-state Rocky Mountain and Great Plains region, but they have had patients and guests from coast to coast. Wide Horizon provides the following services: Christian Science nursing, Christian Science care, outpatient care, home care, consultation, rest and study for spiritual renewal, supervised residential living.

Wide Horizon is licensed by the State of Colorado as a Nursing Care Facility. Their organization is also a member of the Association of Organizations for Christian Science Nursing and is fully accredited by The Commission for Accreditation of Christian Science Nursing Organizations/Facilities.
